Pluto’s Gate, Turkey
Hierapolis is an ancient Greek city on the top of Pamukkale mountain. There are many temples and other religious buildings in the territory. It has the reputation of “Holy City” in the archaeological circle. If you are visiting the country of Turkey and your ride has enough gas in the tank, you might stumble into the ancient city of Hierapolis in Pamukkale, Turkey.
This is where you’ll find the famous Pluto’s Gate, a religious site made in honor of the god Pluto. Nowadays, people are forbidden to visit the area since it poses health risks to anyone who ventures into it. There is said to be a massive concentration of carbon dioxide around Pluto’s Gate. Surprisingly enough, the carbon dioxide level drops during day time and when the sun is high, but to prevent any chances of inhaling it, they closed off the area.
